To mark the closing of 'The People Concerned," please join us at (Yoni) Tree and Space on Sunday, May 30 between 4 and 7 pm. For this occasion the tree in question will be materially awakened to receive your gendered offerings as well as visually insist that sometimes giving space over to ideas happens from the inside out.

Your offerings to the Yoni Tree can be created on the spot, or bring something with you that "fits the frill." We will foster the ins-and-outs of prophecy through pleasure.

This is the last picture I took of the oak before someone removed it.

We Share Wish Machine Wish Share
at Tree and Space
Tour: Sunday, February 8th at 2pm

 
We Share Wish Machine operators, Miggie Wong and Jade Thacker, will lead a walk, and an adventure on February 8th at 2 pm. As a band of friends on a voyage to a place where the ordinary becomes spectacular, we will traverse together, finding gems and treasures along the way. Upon arrival at Tree and Space, we will casually dig for truths, someone's moment of desire, long thoughts, or something arbitrary.

Tree and Space will be the place to host a Wish Share, a celebration, a chance to respond to a person or creature, or to wish a wish in response to a wish. We Share Wish Machine will mediate actions. All wishes were collected from the 24-hour period of December 31- January 1, 2009. Not excluded are those wishes that were received late, but not too late for the machine. All wishes have been transcribed in a sales order book.

You are Loved  - We Share Wish Machine

The plaque was tagged late in December. Not sure what "WF" stands for. It seems permanent.

I moved the plaque back to the former temporary tree site, the neighboring eucalyptus sapling. This tree is thriving without any help from me. I DID NOT PLANT THIS EUCALYPTUS tree. It was just there. I have made my peace with the Eucalypts on the hill top. I know that they are not indigenous and problematic. But, it was there. And it survives unlike everything I plant.  I am not interfering with their process or sacrifice another tree at this time. I have come to realize that this is more about place than planting trees.

The oak tree died in December 2008. I increased water supply to the tree, but it was not enough.

I blame myself for not getting it enough water. I also blame myself for planting near eucalyptus trees. I had no idea that they put out toxins in the soil to kill competitors and were such water suckers. This may be what killed the oak and the pine trees. Or it may have contributed to their demise. I found this out in October 2008. I tried to get more water to the oak, but it just wasn't enough.

This coastal live oak was planted in late July 2008 to replace the dead tree. After doing some research I learned that this is an indigenous species that is very hearty and grows quite large. There are many of these trees about 100 feet from the site.

The plaque was moved from the temporary location to the new site right near by. You can see the eucalyptus behind the oak in the picture on the right below. The oak is currently experiencing problems due to drought here and extreme heat. The eucalyptus is, of course, doing just fine. I am trying to get more water up there consistently to help the tree.
